After class we went to dinner with another couple, the yoga instructor, and a woman from class. It was fun. I found the other couple Delightful! We had so much in common! I like that! I hope to get in touch with them again.
Autumn,
I am so glad you are here. I hope to enjoy you today.
Things I love about Autumn:
The colors, deep red, yellow, pale green, the sound of leaves crunching below my feet, smoke billowing from chimneys, squash, mushrooms, crisp air, the smell of decaying plants, cinnamon, apples, fire, pie, cozy, hot cocoa, extra blankets on the couch and bed, soft knit hats, fingerless gloves, tall striped socks, layering shirts, thick tights, boots, scarves, thick sweaters, heavy sweatshirts, flannel pajamas, hot soup, sun after rain, spiders webs, dark nights, flannel sheets with snowflakes on them, apple cider.
okay that is all I can think of for now.
This weeks photo safari asks the question, what is the best of Life? My overwhelming answer is my husband.
Reflection
I love all the tiny details in life, if I wait for the Huge things to smack me with their importance I will tire and become bored, so I will make the small things really important, like a lazy sunday afternoon with hail beating my roof hot tea with locally harvested honey in it and a homemade fleece blanket across my legs and a purring kitten grateful he is not outside. These are great and the best moments in my life. Nothing exciting, just kittens warmth and tea.
In honor of Johnny Appleseed Day, show us a tree.
Things I do not like about trees
1. the pollen makes my eyes itchy and my head ache
2. um....I think that is it
Things I LOVE about trees
1. The beauty overwhelms me
2. they inspire poetry, songs, art, and playfulness
3. In the Spring the leaves and blossoms are So bright, they banish the winter greys for months
4. In Summer they shade from the warm sun
5. In Autumn they have a colorful showing in fiery shades
6. They encourage us to climb up to see the world as they do
7. In Winter the bare branches look like crooked fingers trying to grab the sun above
8. a gentle breeze would never be heard if it were not for leaves on a tree
9. Trees are pure Joy
10. all the different shapes they create
11. even after they have fallen and died, they still nurture the soil below them to create more life
12. Birds gather in them and you can listen to their songs about trees
13. they make homes for really cute animals like squirrels, raccoons, and possums.
14. they hold hillsides together
15. they create food for many
seriously I could go on and on.
The pictures on the side, the pussy willows, are from tree that had fallen and it still has enough inside for one last spring showing. I had to take pictures of it's strength.

I will start this out with a teeny bit of bitter childhood memory.
I was in the first grade and my class was making valentines for everybody else in the class. I was a JW, not supposed to participate. But this holiday appealed to me so much. Love, hearts, rainbows, happiness, romance, candy. It was a holiday about loving one another. I wanted to decorate a shoebox with the yummy smelling paste, I wanted to color bright flowers and hearts, I wanted to glitter the whole thing. I was not supposed to, but I did it anyway. We also made cards for everybody in the class, it was days of art. What could be better? I loved art, and was quite good at it. If I did what I was supposed to do, I would have been sitting quietly at the office table all day. I wanted art, I wanted passion, I wanted candy. When I brought my stuff home, mother lectured me while I was in the blue bath. Looking down at my distorted body below the water line, feeling bad and dirty about love. I sinned, and it was really fun. I must be a bad person. I never received another valentine until I met my husband.
I told you of our super sweet first kiss a few days ago. Now for the story of my very first valentine gift I ever got from a boy.
I always loved the idea of valentines day, but never had any boyfriends to give me one. Not like I was experienced in the boyfriend field, husband was my 4th boyfriend ever. I was a virgin, this fact is important in this story. I was excited about valentines day, I wondered what he might give me. I thought of traditional heart shaped boxes of chocolate, fresh cut flowers. The card, I was going to get a valentines day card. I bought him some art supplies and a new sketch book, and candy. Made him a card. I get to work, we worked together at Burger King. I give him his gift. He has a small wrapped box for me too. But he does not want me to open it in front of anyone. We go out to his beat up red hatch back that smelled of cigarette smoke. We sit inside and I begin to open the gift. I was in a little shock. I found myself holding a package of edible underwear, strawberry flavor. I looked at him. He was laughing. I laughed too. No, I did not lose my virginity on valentines day. That was months later. Haha! In husbands defense, we was only 19 and he smoked a lot of pot.
Happy Valentines Day everybody!
It all started because I have a love for those nasty necco candy hearts, pictured above. I worked nights at Kmart and picked up and extra big bag. I worked with Aaron (husband) at Burger king during the day. I had (have) the hugest crush on him, but was never forward enough to say it. I thought he was out of my league. The first time I saw him, I was on my break at BK and he walked past me to talk to a friend of his that I worked with. As he walked by I said to myself "He is going to be mine". I was shocked that my reserved self would say something so forward, I must have turned 10 shades or red. ANYWAY,
He started working with me at BK. Started giving me a ride home every once in a while. Stopping to hang out with me in my little house. This blossomed into an incredible friendship. We really clicked on so many levels. I was happy he was my friend, but he was (is) so damn cute, I wanted more. He came over one night to hang out. And these hearts were spilled out across my table ( i like the yellow ones the best) He first handed me one that said "hug me"
I blushed and of course I hugged him. inside there were fireworks. We joked around a bit, then he handed me a "Kiss me" one. So I kissed him. : )
Just like on the brady bunch, fireworks! It was (is) electric! That was 14 years ago today. Aaron has given my life such radiant light, such intense love. I see him and I can't help but smile. He is the highlight of my life, if all else fails, I know we have each other. That gives me so much comfort.
Aaron, I love you SO much honey!

Today we slept in until 10am, drank our coffee slowly and stayed in our jammies well past noon. We decided to go to a movie, Juno, we have tried to see it but sold out. I enjoyed the movie. It was so funny, although I have not seen such a smart high school girl like this since Mtv's Daria. I would like to say I was that cool when I was 16, but that would be a complete lie, I am still not that cool. I can't think of ANY sixteen year old girl that is THAT cool. Anyway, Husband and I laughed a lot, I love hearing him laugh. There was one part of the movie where we realized we were the only ones laughing, and we could not stop, the silence around us only made it funnier. I always hated when this happened in church while best friend and I would be writing secret notes in our bibles to each other. I love that my husband is my best friend as well. I am getting sappy, I will move on.
We got out to Tacoma to get tickets and then go eat, we did not want the show to sell out again in front of us. I got all dressed up! It stinks when you just have to turn around and go home.
We ate at a nice Mexican restaurant, YUMMY! Then we took a walk around downtown Tacoma to kill a half hour before they started seating for the movie. I took a bunch of really neat pictures, and wanted to take more. It is a great town, Tacoma. So much to look at. That is what I did today. : )
