next week, laundry room. Yes, a whole week just for that room. it has been the dumping ground for years now. I want it to function.
then the bedroom.
Then the art room.
Then the office room.
After I get the rooms tidy enough to function. I am going to declutter, seriously declutter. I have been reading this book, and it really has given me a big push. I am going to go through every drawer, every cupboard. I want a clean home by the end of the year. I want to blog from the office room rather than my dining room. I want to go into my art room and create when the mood strikes me. I want to walk easily through my laundry room without tripping on piles and piles of stuff. I want to invite people over to my home.
wish me luck
ps. My sister posted a small and funny blog about our fun outing to the antique show.
*Emotion
*Straight Line
*Curved line
*Texture
*Perspective
*Color
*Motion
and then create an image made of two of these elements.
That is 8 photos to bring. I need to start taking walks again! I see things I like and take pictures of them, I never ask myself WHY I like it. But that is what this exercise is about, seeing the elements that appeal to me. Some of those will be challenging, I am not really drawn to motion, or photos of motion, and emotion is hard to get because I am here by myself a lot, I am hoping for some emotion on Thanksgiving, family drama always erupts on the holidays. I can at least count on niece to cry over a toy being taken away or a nasty fall. I will trip her if I have to (I won't really)
I have a giant pile of laundry once again, I had it almost totally done, then I got lazy. I need to
Tuesdays things:

Also I have not given myself a compliment in a while.
Lavender, you are capable. You can accomplish what you set out to do today.
okay, maybe not as much a compliment but a pep talk. Thanks me, I can do it!
2. the way Ruby feels in my hands and the pull on my neck from her strap, out on a photowalk looking for beauty in everything
3. black and white photography, I love the ones that are mostly dark, I have not been able to shoot for black and white yet, I will make that a lesson this winter, because when everything is all shades of gray anyway, it is the perfect time to look at things in a dark and light sort of way
4. my bird feeders full of swarming tiny birds and my cat making those chatter jaw noises from the top of the cat tree
5. feeling very crafty lately, I like making little brooch thingies with vintage buttons
6. the smell of my house right now, I made lemongrass soap, I call it Polly's Poppy seed soap after my Granny who passed last year. It was her favorite soap and she gave me an old spice jar with poppy seeds in it for the soap. I mixed that small jar into my giant costco sized container. I like the sound it makes when I shake it.
7. hot coffee, that always has to make the list.
8. the carrot soup I made yesterday. It took almost three hours to make, but it was delicious!
9. a list of stuff to get at the craft store, I love the craft store!
10. I have bags of sorted buttons, the sound of them rubbing against each other is nice. I like the colors, the size, the designs, each one telling me humble stories of the past. A giant vulcanized rubber black button, bigger than a silver dollar, with an anchor carved into it. The bottom half of the design has been rubbed away. What sailor wore this? what did he do that would make this wear mark on the button?
11. husband brought home a bonus check yesterday. Another bit of money to squirrel away for potential hard times. I don't want to waste that bit of money now and have him lose his job and wished I had it for a meal later.
12. baby sister coming by last night and showing me her new vintage clothing purchases. The bug has bit her. There is something about vintage clothes, they have a richness to them. They are different than anything you can find at the department store. They are unique and fun.
13. oversized sweatshirts and sweatpants, tall socks and slippers, tank tops and t-shirts under the sweatshirt. SO COZY!!!
My to do list today:
1. put laundry away from yesterday
2. put the washer stuff in dryer
3. clean kitchen up! I need more space in there!
4. make some more soap today
12.
Ghastly-

*oh my goodness, another not so lovely smell and it is me, I need a shower

23. silence
24. being by myself
25. slippers
I will leave it at that for now
Yesterday was my first Yoga class, and people just kept showing up! She was going to stop excepting people at 16, there were 23 people crammed into that studio! She did not turn anybody away. It was packed tight, we had to stagger on our mats to do sun salutations but the energy was so friendly and loving! We did a little bit of the basics, she spoke about yoga's beginnings, and you can hear her slight french accent peeking through at times. Let me describe my teacher, Anne, she is tall and very thin, healthy thin. She has a shiny blondish brownish hair pulled back into a pony tail, her skin is sun kissed brown and she has the nicest smile. Her energy makes you want to be around her, she has this calm accepting kindness about her. I adore her! Not like girl crush, but she is another one of those female role models I have so craved in my life.
I found that I have a very very long way to go to be able to do a lot of the poses, but as Anne said, whatever our bodies can do, it is the right move for us. She said that if we are having a hard time with breath while in the move, always choose the breath. I am very excited to continue along with this class. ;-)
I have been talking big lately, I have done very little house cleaning and once again my laundry is out of control, the cat nip has been tracked all over the floors, and the clutter remains in its dusty spot. I wanted to hire someone to help, but it was between that person and yoga, and I chose yoga. I have been feeling very overwhelmed again and need to start doing the 15 minutes in each room again. It was helping. In my defense, the weather has been unseasonably nice here in the pacific northwest and I have not wanted to waste the precious sunshine, I want to soak it up as much as I can because the clouds are coming and who knows when I will see the sun again! That is a great excuse and I am sticking with it.
My to do list:
1. dishes, and kitchen floor
2. all dirty laundry in bins sorted
3. garbage dumped and litter boxes cleaned
4. bathroom cleaned
5. laundry started and put some of it away!
1. drink bunches of delicious Coffee! We buy from a place online, they roast the beans in my state's capitol and the name of the coffee delights me. Dancing Goats coffee A local artist created the design for the Coffee, and it is CUTE! and Man, I just saw some of the new Merch from the artist and I am going to have to check the bank account to see if there is enough for something special.
2. draw beautiful things on my sidewalk in chalk this afternoon.
3. play with my new 70-300 lens that has been intimidating me but begging for a photo walk around town.
4. look at photos on flickr to get more inspiration
5. make cookies
6. make a list of all the words that make me giggle, like
*rhubarb
*pookie
*fanny
7. go to see the new movie "Burn after reading" tonight
8. make a pot of iced tea
9. make faces at small children when their parents are not looking, not mean ones, just funny ones
10. bathe in colors today, wear a very loud and bright outfit today (if I have any clean clothes)
11. color with crayons today
12. play solitaire with real cards so that I can cheat if I want to. It does feel good to win.
13. enjoy the sunshine that is still blessing my pacific northwest home. It is a rare thing to have such wonderful weather this time of year. It is nice, I feel it is making up for a rainy August and June.
Yesterday was a different ballgame. I was originally going to meet Heartshapedsky and her adorable family for lunch and see them off to the fair while I stopped by the yoga studio to sign up Mr. Lavender and I up for the intro series. Then I said, drive me to my Dad's lot and we will see about getting you some free parking. I thought I would chat with my Dad and Sister a while then go on a photo walk with yoga agenda. Dad pulled out a free ticket and I went to the fair again. I looked, well, not very cute as I was cleaning my house earlier and had not even brushed my hair, just smooshed the mop under a bandana and went to lunch. Since Heartshapedsky's camera is on the fritz I became the family photographer for the day. It was fun, seeing Heart's son ride on the same rides we did when we were his age. I snapped several hundred photos that I still need to download off my camera. I had a great time with them. Such an adorable family they are! (thanks Guys!) I came home with a Caramel Apple for Mr. Lavender, and a couple scones, sunburned face and arms, tired legs.
Here are my loves and loathes for this tuesdays things.
Loathes-
* the farmer tan I have going on, seriously, defined line mid arm where my t-shirt sleeves stop.
* my abs still hurt so bad from yoga last Saturday! I still have a hard time pulling myself off the couch, bed, or chair.
* stupid hip pain, I need to seek medical attention for that. I thought it was going away, but it tricked me.
* Mr. L and I were awoke last night to our bedroom flashing lights and sirens from emergancy response vehicles. 2:30am. they were parked all across our street, blocking the road, using police tape, and carting someone away in the ambulance. One of my neighbors, I could not tell who. We watched and listened from our dining room window, but got no info. I just hope they are okay, there are a lot of children who live along this street, eeek.
Loves-
* children laughing
* Heart's son finding the buzzer button on the rides and being utterly delighted by the hideous noise.
* Sunny weather! Yay! It had been SO nice! I guess I complained to the right people because we are having a little belated summer weather. I was going to get a little bitter.
* fair scones, they are so dang good
*so many plans with so many people, Lucy tomorrow, Homebody next week (yes, to the fair)
* yoga studio less than a mile away from my home
* coffee, which I am most likely going to have to make more of to keep me going today
* the smell of cotton candy
* the sound of the roller coaster floating in my bedroom window at night
* My Daddy, he is so sweet!
* going to a wedding where they will be playing the song from Juno after they are anounced husband and wife, it is going to be an incredible wedding. One with fine music, My dad borrowed some of my CD's for this event! (Dad is a DJ if I have not mentioned this before)
* Mr. Lavender being touched that I thought of him and brought him home a caramel apple (I always think of him) he then ate the apple and got caramel on his shirt which is now soaking in some Shout to be washed.
* new sandals I got at Ross for $20 (top dollar I will pay for shoes) they are teva sandals and they are SO comfy!!!! I wore them for the first time yesterday and I walked all over hot pavement from about 1pm-6pm. My feet barely hurt! Best $20 spent ever!!!! in fact the whole outfit cost me $27, jeans on clearance at Gap for $7 and a free Vox shirt from Mr. Heartshapedsky!
So since my photos are random, no theme, I think I will continue the random theme with 13 random thoughts for friday.
1. I have not been out for a walk all week, I feel like I have been fighting something off. Maybe it is just allergies. I don't know. It has been slowing my progress.
2. Yesterday while chatting with Homebody about setting up structure for ourselves, and scheduling stuff, she sent me a great Sark book in the mail. I got to thinking. I am going to make a schedule book for myself, write down my goals in crayons, markers, pencil, whatever. Make a fun schedule with plenty of space for drawings and doodles, and maybe even a photo or two. Write down what I actually did this day. Like a collage datebook. I hope to maybe share some photos of how the pages turned out.
3. I am still in my hot pink christmas Jammies, green, pink, and brown striped socks, puppy slippers, and yellow long sleeve t-shirt... I am a colorful sight right now
4. The sun is out, and the Fair starts today..... The Fair
it is the most pain in the ass for any of us locals, the traffic is horrid, you can't go across town anymore, you have to find all those back roads etc. But Today I think I am going to do something I have never done. I am heading downtown to watch the cattle drive and parade, also free admissian to the fair. I have gone to the fair every year of my life except for two years, the last two years. I kind of miss it. I miss the scones and the krusty pups, and the smell of the onion burgers cooking, the sounds of the rides buzzing and beeping. I am going to scrap my schedule today to go to the fair. I am probably going to go with Homebody and maybe others for a night photo shoot. Just let me know when you are available Darling!
5. I am now excited about going to the fair by myself. so the rest of the list will be rushed, I need to get going. ;-)
6. Fall is in the air, the leaves are a dull green on my tree and the air has a slight smell of decay.
7. My coffee is cold, I will have to get more while I am out
9. My YOGA studio opens this weekend and we are going to take advantage of the free classes. I am going to sign up for the beginner series.
10. I hope to get a new lens in the mail today. I am getting a 70-300 lens, I hope to get some great macros with it.
11. I am late getting started on my soap. sigh..... I need to order prints of some photos and make about 35 sets of blank cards and envelopes for Thanksmas gifts. Date has been set.
12. We went and saw Wall-e again last night. That movie made me almost cry again! I mean, the theater is quite dusty and it gets in my eyes, I do not cry at cartoons about robots.
13. We have a packed weekend planned, tonight we have to make kitten food, AND go to Olympia for a reunion of some of Mr. L's Co-Workers. They call it the quitters group, you see the company they worked for sucks really really bad. Mr. L quit and within a few months they lost half the staff, there have been a few more over the last couple years. There are only about 4-5 of the original staff left. It has been only 4 years.
Now I am off to photograph a Cattle Drive!!!
