Helios is my Orange Kitten, she is almost 9 years old now. She was up to 18lbs, until we started making our own cat food. She has slimmed down to a healthy 15lbs now. She WAS Super cranky now she is just mildly cranky and she is a lot more playful. Funny how good food will change a life. I call her Los, Losefer, poops, poopsy, poopcycle, chunky butt, fatty fatty boombalatty, poopzilla, poopsadaisy, poopenator, das poopsmaker. I know there are many many more, but I can't think of them right now!
The Gray one is Luna. We found each other at the beach. She is almost 9 months now. I call her, Lunatic, lunatastic, floof, floofinater, floofy doofy, pantaluna, floofers, and several more to come, she is also new.
Ok, yesterday I went out for my daily walk, lah tee dah! I took a picture of an older brick house that has these neat gargoyles on the top. I thought, that is a cool photo for the first of October! I take a few more shots over the tops of chain length fences, zooming in from the sidewalk. I see the house that has the wall of bamboo, I decide I will take a couple of pictures of this when I took the second picture I hear a cat scream a meow, I look down and this cat is running at me. I thought "Oh my goodness, I am going to be attacked by an orange tabby!" I tensed up and the cat jumped up for maximum head rubbing. It started purring like a lion and attacking me with Love! It was the oddest thing! It was rubbing my legs so fast I could barely pet him. I took a picture of him and then turned up to get a picture of the archway around the gate. When I got home there is a strange smokey kind of thing there. I felt that when the cat came to me, I had this overwhelming feeling I knew him. I thought, weird kitty.
There is my creepy October 1st story.
:)here are some more pictures too. The last one is of the window before I got the heck out of dodge!
She ran into my big cranky cat, now she has stitches in her ear and I am out $280.
Poor lil thing was playing and when she is "getting" something, she gets total tunnel vision. She normally stears clear of Helios but, she threw her toy right in front of Helios and Helios freaked out. She struck her huge ear and tore it down the middle, and left a tiny bit hanging off the side. It would not stop bleeding so we went to the pet hospital. 5 stitches and glue to keep the little hanging thing on.
Here is a picture of my new kitty sleeping on my lap. I don't know how she sleeps like this.
This is just a random photo of her and her giant cute ears And this one is of one of her fave hiding spaces, she is dangerous I tell you! No wiggling toe or twitching muscle is safe with her around. She lunges out from behind cushions, chairs, blankets, from behind shoes, everything. What do you think your pets would act like if they were people? Do you think you'd get along with them?

Helios my big orange cat. She would be a total prissy bitch. We would be mortal enemies. Haha. She is very territorial with Aaron. She will look at him all soft and sweet then turn to me and glare at me. This is not imagined, it is all true. She has it in for me. If she were human we probably would never know each other. She would be a tyrannical evil leader trying to take over the world.
Honeybun my turtle, we are not sure of the sex of Bunners, we call her a she. She is a very determined strong survivor. She would be a lovely person to know, since she spends most of the day trying to escape from her cage, she would be a feminist breaking barriers for all women. Always trying to open the doors, broaden the horizons for the masses. Or maybe champion for the small organic farmers, she loves the local nectarines so much she actually had a hunger strike until we got her another nectarine. She did not eat any bananas, strawberries, or apples. She would snub her nose at these offerings and bury it until the nectarine was presented. She was a lab turtle for a Jr. High down the street, then passed to the daycare center I worked at. I am giving her a relaxing retirement. She has all sorts of chips in her shell, but she still has the sweetest personality. Never mean.
Bones my outdoor kitty who was abandoned by society. He would be a nice disabled lonely man living alone with all this love to give and nobody to give it too. Nobody reaches out to others because people have less and less of themselves to give. We don't even give ourselves much anymore. He would be the old man at the park watching children play and laughing along with them. He would be the guy on the bus stop that smiles at everybody that passes. He would be the old man who picks up pennies off the sidewalk. I would like him a lot. He is just all about love and kindness.
I had myself convinced she was going to be treated and come home today, but instead I have a stupid clay footprint of her dead paws that I have to bake. I have never lost a pet besides as a child, and then they just "ran away". She showed up at my house a few days before 4th of July 2004. She was not yet a year old . She chased off all other strays on my back porch and worked her way indoors, and deep into my heart. As I am writing this I have had only a few hours of sleep and my eyes feel fat to the touch and they burn like I have been in a room of cigarette smoke for days. I am so sad.
We brought her to the vets office, she had been quite lethargic and not eating. Turns out it was not the food but Anemia. he was not sure of the cause, she is so young that it could be a virus or something treatable with blood transfusions. So we ran her to the neighboring town to the Pet hospital where they found out she was in late stages of Leukemia. She was beginning to suffer, she has been slowly dying. We had to make the choice to put her to sleep. It was really hard. They brought her into the room with us, she was weak but never stopped purring. She had to have been the happiest friendliest cat. If you looked at her she would fall over and start purring. We held her and told her thanks for choosing us, making me happy when I was depressed, making our home lovely for 3 years. Told her we loved her and did not want her to be alone when she passed. She layed in my lap when the doctor gave her the shot, I knew she was ready. You see when you were really petting her and giving her great love, she would lick our hands, like a thank you, thats the spot. When the Doctors hands began the injection, she lifted her weak little head and licked her knuckles, thank you. Her body was so heavy, her eyes were still open and she was still warm. But she was dead.
Sleeping is going to be the hardest task without her around, she slept on my legs, and warm and rumbley. Purring so loud the sound filled the room. I was always aware of her tiny body on my side of the bed, lastnight was a nightmare, I could not feel her down there, when I would move the blankets always stayed put where she was, they were all wonkey lastnight, I cried every tome I moved and she was not there. To make matters a bit worse the doctor said we need to have our other cat tested, she may have the virus too. We have to go see if our other cat is going to die soon too. I am really scared. Twilight was best matched to me, she loved getting love, and I loved giving it. I am really sad it was only 3 years we spent together, but it was FILLED with love.
I was a bit worried when they announced the cat food recall, but my cat food brand was not on the list. My cat Twilight has been acting a little less energetic than usual, but she has some problems with allergies so I wrote it off as that. She has been getting worse, she has been hiding under the bed. She is normally VERY social. We go to Trader Joes to buy more cat food and they have recalled their food to test independently. So now I begin to worry a bit, I check the list again and the food is not on the list. We finish up the canned food. Yesterday she was bad. I would stand her up and she would collapse, but after a little petting she would stand. Her bones on her spine are more prominent and she had a hard time having her BM (bowel Movement) she did it on the bed. WAY out of character for either one of our cats. The other cat, Helios is fine. She is bigger, but eats much less than Twilight. Twilight has slowly been growing out of the stray mentality and fight over the food. My husband goes online and finds out that Trader Joes cat food is indeed packed by Menu Foods, the recalled company. I am scared I have been feeding my poor cats poisoned cat food! If it is Trader joes will NEVER see my business again. We go to the vet tonight. I am scared. I really love my Twilight.
Show us the one thing that unfailingly makes you smile, no matter what.
