Compliment of the day for Sunday and Monday:
Lavender, you don't want to give up and you have a nice rack.
Um, Thanks Me
Haha! I will tell a story about my rack. You see people I was always terribly skinny and I did not start puberty until I was old enough to drive (never got my license). You see, I was always teased for being flat chested. I wore the baggiest clothes (not hard since that was the style and I was so skinny) I would hold my trapper keeper over my chest while walking from class to class only to have a certain group of boys grab the top and expose my flat chest. I was desperate. My cousin stuffed her bra and it looked like she stuffed, so I did not want to do that. So I prayed, I asked God for boobs. When that failed me, I would wish upon the stars, Starlight starbright, please let me get this wish tonight....
When I was an adult (20) I barely filled in an a cup. I met Mr. Lavender and we started dating then we got very serious. I started taking the birth control pill and POW! There they were! Within a year I was a cup size bigger, then another few years another, then another! I am grateful for my rack. Haha!
Now when I bump into people from high school I think they think I had a boob job, haha!
I have been away from vox for a while now, Barely keeping up with my own posts. The weather has been SO lovely and I don't want to waste it, I have been getting little bits of housework done too. I will catch up soon I hope!
This weekend we saw the movie Choke it was alright, lots of sex (this always embarrasses me to see) and it was kind of sad. Some funny parts, but sad. It was okay... meh.
We also went to the concrete art center for some concrete downspout thingies, and I took pictures of some of the other stuff they had. These photos here are the result. I should give them a card with one of these on the front with a link to my flickr site too. Make some connections.
On Sunday we woke up super late and went for a bike ride through the farm land of Orting. There is a huge paved trail running through the land. 3 hours we were out, I bonked. No energy and we did not pack any food. So we stopped at a bench that was under a tree, shaded half way. It looked out over a christmas tree farm and a hillside filled with trees. In the next few weeks this hillside will look as if it is on fire with the colors of autumn. I sat, drinking my water. Mr. Lavender went into the bushes and picked me two handfulls of blackberries to help with my energy level. He took my hand and cupped it filling it with plump sweet black berries, I ate them, he came back with more, I told him he should eat them, I did not want to be selfish but he said I will pick some more, you take these, you need them. This act of kindness almost made me cry, I am so blessed to have him as my husband.
This concludes my rambles for Monday
A little while ago, while trying to de-clutter my home, I sent a box of fabric I had collected to a lovely young artist in a faraway land. She sent me some of her native creatures my way. Let me just say.....
I want to live in SnuggleMuffins World!
If you just want to see her art, I mean world, here is her Flickr site too.
This is such a reward for thinning out my fabric stash!
I will take better photos of them, I think one will accompany me while I am out and about, I will take them on field trips. ;-)
Snugglemuffin,
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Mr. Lavender and I are Delighted to be a home for these magnificent creatures and drawings. The bookmark is holding my place in a new photography book, The prints are going to be framed an put up in my home, The heart hangs next to another heart on the knobs of my kitchen cabinets, the cabinet holding cookies and candy of course, The card is in my box of keep sakes, the stickers found their way onto my 3 year old niece's body, and the dolls are all around my home, on bookcases, couches, and tables. They add such a playful joyful energy to my home. I THANK you so much!!!!!
XO,
Lavender
Just do a Google image search with his name Andy Goldsworthy be amazed. : )
She has always been there at the Antique Sandwich Company in Tacoma. It was established in 1973 by a group of hippies wanting an eatery with character. I started coming here as a child.
There she is, the marble statue. I have gazed at her for 30 years. She seemed so strong to me. I know nothing about her, but in my head I know her. Her strength awakened my own strength inside. She showed me how a woman can be strong and beautiful. When I was a child I would touch her feet, so cold and hard, it surprised me at first. I thought she was just going to move at any moment. I swear I saw her breathing once. I stared into the carved eyes, studied the folds in her toga style dress, the bones in her toes, the soft curls of her hair. She is so dirty now, collecting dust. The only white spot on her body is her nipple. Her exposed breast made me nervous as a child, we would dare each other to touch it, Zach did it gladly. We must have been about 10 years old, I can see we were not the only ones.
It felt like with every angle I snapped a photo, her expression changed. She says so much, and nothing at all. She has been my goddess for so long, and now I share her with you. If you know anything about her I would love to know more.
OKAY! I just called and got a teeny bit more info about her. She has a date of 1893, her name carved in her is "Colombo" she is from Italy, Caracas and was made for the Colombia exhibition. They did a bit of research on her and found some photos of some similar statues but not her, a reference to one named "Americas" which makes sense considering her dress.
I told her of a few of my stories about her and she laughed. She has been meaning to take some photos of her and send them to the smithsonian to see if they could give her some more info.
next stop, Google.

I have to say the encouragement from my neighbors about my photography. You all are SO Supportive! I feel like I am going to pursue this path, I would not have even thought about it if it were not for all of you lovely comments. I THANK YOU all for such wonderful support! I hope I give as much as I have been receiving, because I have received SO MUCH!

I made these using old books, photos, papers etc. Things I find at thrift stores, garage sales, etc.
I also managed to poke myself in the eye pretty badly while applying my make-up. It is still all red and swollen. It has been 4 days. sigh...
