lavender sleepwalking, or sleep posting

I love the autumn feel of that first photo - and you're right on being under the maples. Sometimes the world is painted in the yellows, sometimes it's painted in the reds - but always a wonderful, clean feeling.

Pretty photos! I was surprised how warm and lovely it was out yesterday. I bundled up too much, even put on a winter hat to take the dog for a walk yesterday, I felt like a maroon. I wasn't feeling so great and was tired and still had stuff to do, or maybe I would have taken a more leisurely stroll and enjoyed it more. There won't be too many more days like that, especially on the weekends when I can actually go out in plenty of daylight. enjoy the day, make sure to breathe deep.
I love the leave photos!! You do such wonderful things with your camera.
It is!!! i love it under there! Maybe I will go back today!
Thanks Crankypants, I fully intend on enjoying the sunshine while it lasts. It is 60 degrees and sunny, in Washington! Can't let that slip through my fingers!

Oooooo! Aaaaaahhhh! Soak up lots of sun for me!
yes! yes! yes! soak up the sun and colors while they're here because all too soon they will fade to months and months of gray and gloom. shit, i'm depressed now just thinkin' that! did you say you're using a 50mm lens?
beautiful pics - it's so hot here at the moment, can't even imagine autumn!

I have a term for the colored air that occurs under the trees...

Magic Light !!!

Saturday we went on a hike in St. Francois State Park, about an hour south of St. Louis. There was all sorts of Magic Light there. It's like I couldn't get enough of it. It was so, so beautiful.....gold, green, yellow, orange, and red. There were a couple places I actually started running on the trail to catch up to the light and snap some photos before the sun went behind the hills. It was so much fun !!

You can see a couple of my Magic Light photos on my blog and my Flickr photostream....and keep in mind that the mad excitement to catch up to the Magic Light is all your fault. For real !!! It was seeing your photos and reading your blog that made me believe I could learn to use a camera and express myself with photographs. I thought about you over and over as I walked the trail and chased the Magic Light.

Thank you for all the inspiration !!!!

Whoaaa!! Gorgeous, gorgeous....just gorgeous!!!! Lovely bokeh too!!
I did, did you feel it? ;-)
the gloom is on the horizon.....
I did not take very many pictures yesterday, but I walked in the sun.
Yes, mostly a 50mm because it is small and easy to carry while on a walk.
Sometimes I use my 18-135 though.

and I cannot imagine hot! Hahah!
Thanks so much Leila!
I am SO happy that my photos woke up your inner photographer! :D
I love magic light, you can feel the excitedness while in it! I LOVE it!!!! I am so glad you do to!
Thank You Thank you and Thank you!!! ;-)
I think I'm hooked !

Lavender you will to tell me how the pillow works out, I have been wanting to try a buckwheat pillow myself but will have to mail order one as no one out here carries them it seems!
So yeah, I procrastinate when I can't try something out and return it easily lol.
Mr. Lavender has a very curved backbone and has terrible back and neck pain. I bought him one of these pillows about 4-6 months ago. It helps SO much with his neck. I am enjoying mine so far. I got mine from a company who sells on amazon.com. Organic and made in america.
Leica - I've slept on buckwheat pillows for years (they're the common pillow in Japan) and I will never go back to the Western pillow. Of course I also love sleeping on the tatami floor on a futon so I wouldn't necessarily go by my preferences. Nonetheless, I find buckwheat far more comfy and conducive to a restful sleep. Only thing you gotta do is buy replacement buckwheat time to time, they do break down.
Nearly missed your comment! (you didn't use the reply button) ... happened to stroll in & found it ... was the 18-135 used in photos 2, 3 & 4 or do you remember?
those were the 50mm

These are such beautiful photos. I think someone already commented on the magical light; I agree! Especially love "red stems yellow leaves."

ah; begin focusing (no pun intended) on depth of field; it'll be a foundational stone to future learning.
I have been using the 1.8 on the 50, because it makes it so easy to isolate a single item.
Thank you Sweetheart!
but that's where you're stuck. you're isolating one element at the expense of the whole, the composition and depth of field, which are important concepts and whose understanding will only develop your skills.
Ahhhh! I see what you are saying. I guess I got in the habit on my walks to hopefully blur out the messy yards of my neighbors. Ha!
hahah. it's time to expand your photo knowledge -- depth of field, loil, depth of field -- and to travel into yards without weeds.
