All or Nothing

Here is my own bitter cranky twisted view of this. Please I hope I do not offend. I am not mean, I swear it!

The STATE capitol is a representative of ALL of us, not just Christians. It is true that the majority are Christian,  There are more than that though. There are Jewish, Pagan, Muslim, (forgive me it is early, I cannot think of more, I know there are bazillians more) The state capitol MUST represent ALL. So We cannot have only a Christmas tree. That only represents one portion of our amazing Community. 

A group of Christian people have been protesting the existence of the sign, holding their own signs stating things like "God hates Sinners" I was under the impression we were not supposed to speak for God, I thought that WAS a sin, a stonable sin I believe. It has been a while since my church going days though. I was also under the impression that God accepted all, even those who did not believe. What is it that all those bumper stickers say "Jesus Loves You"? When people stuck that bumper sticker on the back of their giant SUV, they wanted EVERYONE to believe they were loved right? Or Did they want to keep it simple, and passed up on the one that said "Jesus loves you, unless you are not christian, then he hates you"

I thought Jesus was the one who really LOVED everyone, he pulled all the misfits of society closest to him. He Wanted all to be tolerant of each other, and to be respectful too. Love one another despite the fact that we all disagree on some things. He loved everyone, the unloved and the unlovable. He loved them all. He wanted all of us to do the same. Isn't that what the point of all those WWJD (what would Jesus do?) t-shirts, shoe laces, bracelets, notebooks, hats, bumper stickers, buttons, pens, etc. For one to really reflect on this answer. As bitter as I am about religion, I think this really is a good idea. 

So my fellow community, before you finish your cup of hot coffee and pick up your cardboard signs with words of intolerant beliefs. Ask yourself truly, What Would Jesus do? I don't want to speak for God here, I have always feared a death by stones, but my interpretation is that God Loved all. He did not want to alienate anyone who may accept his words of love and acceptance later on in life. He would never pick up a picket sign stating what God "hates" (isn't God supposed to be pure Love? Love cannot hate!) Jesus would probably speak to these others with respect to their beliefs, he would hope that others would do the same for him. I would think, I am not putting words in God's mouth *looks about for stones*

All I guess I am saying is that if your own faith base is stable and secure, you KNOW the words of your own God are true, then this sign should not affect you in any way. You can just walk by and be respectful of someone else's beliefs. Their sign is not really a protest against your own beliefs, they are just different and That is Okay! 

to have your religious symbol shown at the capitol building you have to accept that ALL religious symbols MUST be displayed.

and in other news:

It is Monday and I am typing on the laptop, sipping hot coffee (not too close to the laptop Mr. L) and cannot use the other computer. It has a virus, not just a common cold, but a big giant trojan type virus. I have so many photos on that computer, waiting to be edited, waiting to be uploaded to flickr, waiting for my attention. Well, it will have to wait. We are probably going to get another computer, we are getting another computer. The trojan virus was a sneaky one, but one that microsoft firewalls should have protected us, but it did not. So the next week or two may be photo absent, or maybe I will post oldies that never got posted to vox.  Mr. L has plans for the old computer, he plans on wiping it clean and making our own Tivo type of box. Awesome! 

Today I need to do 

at least two loads of laundry

last batch of soap

clean up the kitchen

does not sound like much, but trust me, I should have started working two hours ago.
