Hello friends, sorry I have not been around too much lately. I have tripped over something and fell into a puddle of sad. ;-( I do this every once in a while, just get a little sad, feel a little down, lay on the couch a little more than usual. I am sure many of you know what I am talking about, the place where you just don't have the energy to do anything besides click the TV remote. I am hopefully waking up from it now. *crosses fingers*

Here are a few photos from my 4th of july. We went to my MIL's home and my BIL blew up stuff. Haha! We played with light and sparklers. Fun Stuff for me! I will be back tomorrow to read up on you all, see how your holiday was.

I used this recipe
Set ISO at 100
use tripod
f stop set in between 8-14 (I think I used 14)
set shutter speed to "bulb" which means the shutter stays open for as long as you are pushing the button down, as soon as you release the shutter will close.
I would push the shutter open just before they let themselves out of the canisters (When I saw my BIL run from the sparks) Keeping it open for all three explosions that are set to explode one after the other. that way I would have all three in the same frame. I have lots to fine tune here, but this was my first time shooting fireworks and I think it went well!

I was sad last week too. I was worried a real depression was starting. I also felt weak as a kitten physically. I had "fuck with me" written on my forehead too. I had three encounters of the male creepy kind. I'm back to my powerful Valkyrie self today. It is good!

Great fireworks photos. I didn't have a good view of the Boston fireworks this year so most of mine are cut off by buildings :(

WOW!!!! I think these are the best fireworks photos I have ever seen! They are so crisp and clean! Brilliant and beautiful! (BTW I didn't get to see fireworks this year, sothese are a nice treat, thank you for sharing them.)

I am excited for you too! I am a list crazy gal, I would have lists of everything I need taped on my walls, written in dry eraser on the bathroom mirror, and safety pinned to the luggage. I always forget something important, you know, like underwear, or a toothbrush.

Make sure your tripod is not in a place where people travel too much, you don't want anyone tripping on the tripod and breaking your camera! Good Luck!

Oh Lavender, these are amazing. So many of your photos really take my breath away, thank you again for sharing with us. But these fireworks photos are just beautiful!
On a separate note, I had a chance tonight to read back a little further...I finally posted a blog today on Vox but it is only a link to blogspot where I actually (finally!) started the real blog, the one that has been running through my mind...
anyway all that is just a babbling thing to say, the blog is basically a note to you and another friend here on Vox.
But tonight I am just now having a chance while the baby is asleep to go back a little further, and I am so very sorry to hear you've been a little down lately. I was there too but am coming out on the other side now. I hope you are saying the same.
P.S. If your SIL scores you as the photographer for her wedding, she is the luckiest bride I have ever known!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would pay you ten times more than the three times more that the stupid student asked for, your photos would still be worth ten times more than that (but that is all or perhaps more than I could afford LOL) -- my biggest regret in recent life is forgetting my camera when I ran to the hospital for the birth of Ayize, and tha is just my regret at missing the chance of my own mega-crappy photos....oh my god, to have your wonderful eye for photos capture a special occasion, ad better yet, her wedding!!!!!

Do not stress about indoor lighting, etc. if you're able because I know no matter what the lighting, your worries, etc. there could be no better eye behind that camera on her wedding day! I am excited to see your future slideshow!!
